This is an original fabric that is made with great care, starting from the thread. The thread used for this JUMBO is
It was developed by Ayabe Boseki Co., Ltd. (established in 1948) in Ayabe City, Kyoto, as the first yarn for denim in Japan.
It can be wound with more than five times the amount of ordinary spun yarn.
At the time, thread breakage was a major issue when weaving denim, and the company focused on a large-package ring twisting machine that could reduce the number of knots in the thread. Working in collaboration with O-M Spinning Works, Ltd. at the time, the company modified this twisting machine into a spinning frame, creating the Jumbo spinning frame, which successfully solved the issue, and is still in use today.
The 14.5oz JUMBO DENIM used by STRASSBURGER & Co. is
The warp thread of this JUMBO yarn is dyed 10 times with indigo,
The weft thread is made of brown cotton to recreate the uneven texture and earthy look that appears over time, while the 11.5oz model uses #16 grey cotton for the weft thread, allowing you to enjoy the vertical fading that was typical of the workers' jeans of the time.
The experience and technology of Ayabebo Co., Ltd., which has supported the denim industry for over 50 years since the dawn of denim,
Today it is recognized worldwide as "JAPAN DENIM".
